The International Ski Federation and OMNIGON are engaged in a multi-
year deal to design, develop and innovate around their digital platforms.
Most recently, in conjunction with the 2018-2019 season, OMNIGON relaunched FIS’ flagship website. This redesigned website was built leveraging OMNIGON’s Corebine platform. With this website, FIS wanted to create a comprehensive, engaging experience that would drive interest and engagement in skiing and snowboarding while bringing fans closer to the action than ever before.
To meet these objectives, OMNIGON designed the website experience to highlight each of FIS’ most popular disciplines. Within each discipline, there is specific information to that particular sport including calendar & results, athlete-specific information, statistics, cup standings, news and more. Additionally, there is a prominent results and leaderboard module; within this area, there is live footage when available and detailed race information that gets updated in real time.
Much like the OMNIGON-designed FIS mobile apps, the website also features a comprehensive results section. This section, including both live and historical data, gives fans the ability to search by individual events and explore detailed results. Additionally, there is also a robust event hub, with event details and schedules for all previous, current, and upcoming events. Both experiences also include a dedicated media section featuring all latest news articles, video and photo highlights, and social streams.
The website and mobile apps both feature a comprehensive athlete area. WIthin this section, fans can search for their favorite athlete and pull up their page which features biographical information, nationality, race by race results, World Cup statistics and standings, a visualization of total World Cup podiums, images and a link to their social media feeds.
Within the apps, in an effort to bring fans closer to the athletes, there is also a Behind the Scenes video series for Nordic, Alpine and Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding to give fans an inside look at the competitions and the athletes who participate in them. Additionally, fans have the ability to personalize their experience by selecting and following favorite athletes. By selecting favorites, fans will receive custom content and relevant notifications.
