The Black List Project: An Exploration of Race and Social Structure, HBO/Freemind Ventures
Freemind Ventures is a media collective committed to creating rich and empowering media vehicles.
Project Challenge

In 2008 Omnigon partnered with Freemind Ventures on the Black List Project web site which began as a companion site for the HBO film (Black List Volume 1). This collaboration has continued through through HBO’s release of The Black List Volume Three in February of 2010.

Project Detail

Omnigon developed this site as the interactive extension of the Black List Project with components that include a film, a book, a traveling portrait exhibition and an educational initiative. Among the personalities featured on the site are Chris Rock, Serena Williams, Colin Powell, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Russell Simmons, Lawrence Fishburne, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Omnigon Value

Omnigon created the interactive extension of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders film and portraits, leveraging the beauty and power of that work. The ability to collaborate with an artist of Greenfield-Sanders calibur speaks volumes about the talent of the Omnigon creative team.

Awards

The Black List Volume 1 won the NAACP Image Award for Best Documentary and was followed by Volumes 2 and 3 (currently in development). TheBlackListProject.com received a 2009 Interactive Media Award (IMA) for Outstanding Achievement.
